The Harvard Academy for International and Area Studies’ Academy Scholars Programme seeks out and supports outstanding scholars who will start their academic careers. Additionally, those whose work combines superior skill in a social science field with fluency in a foreign language and other knowledge or expertise of other countries or regions outside of the US and Canada. Their work should cross traditional disciplinary boundaries and provide insight into national, international, or comparative issues of the past or present.
Academy Scholars will serve as residential postdoctoral fellows for two years at Harvard University’s Harvard Academy for International and Area Studies in Cambridge, Massachusetts. To conduct demanding research projects and advance their knowledge in their fields, the fellows will receive substantial financial and research support.
Informally gathering for dinners, seminars, and get-togethers, fellows will talk about innovative interdisciplinary approaches to their work. The fellows will be mentored by a group of academic members who serve as a selection committee, the Harvard Academy Senior Scholars.
